Ok, so it's officially HOT here in the desert which means most of us locals are well...living like vacationers (or hermits.) If you are traveling to Phoenix during the summer or visiting Scottsdale for your vacation, there are indeed things that you can do with kids while here.
Resorts, resorts, resorts.... everyone spends their summer (locals and tourists alike) hanging by the exceptionally beautiful pools that the resorts have here in Arizona. Some resorts have multiple pools like the Scottsdale Princess and there's one with a 138-foot-long enclosed waterslide (Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort.) We've got an interactive "spray-ground" (The Phoenician) and a 900-foot lazy river, a surf simulator (Westin Kierland.) And we can't forget the Arizona Grand's seven-acre Oasis Water Park is exclusive to guests of the resort and includes a wave pool, a lazy river, a 25-person hot tub and an eight-story tower with three waterslides.
Did you know there are more than 45 splash and spray pads around the Phoenix area? That's sure to keep you cool (and allow for some shopping in many cases as well.) Just don't forget your swim diapers and wet bags!
Most of us moms live in indoor play areas and trampoline parks. Some local favorites include AZ Airtime (Scottsdale,) Jakes Unlimited (Mesa,) Makutu's Island (Chandler,) Ready, Set, Play (Gilbert,) Playgrounds (Peoria,) Whipples (North Phoenix,) Play Factory (Desert Ridge,) and Dave & Busters for the older kids.
Our cities also offer hundreds of day summer camps that are also open for visitors and range from ages 2+. You can find camps that range from art to spy school, science and math camps, robotics, legos, and more are always favorites. There's camps that teach you code, and camps that teach you to be a Pinterest queen. Raising Arizona Kids Magazine keeps a great list of camps you can try if you wish.
As always, we are here to help. If you need help finding something to do while here - whether you rent gear or not - simply reach out and we are happy to help!
